One Sequin at a time

Sequins and stardust,
Pixies and fairy lights,
Flowing water and rising tides,
Lashing waves and Ginormous caves.
Pinks and shades of blue,
A rhyme and a thing to do,
A laugh, a tear,
A shine and some sheer.

I'm in one of those moods. Poetry. Melancholy. All packed up to leave this city I called home for the last 5 years. My little place to vent. My blog. My readers. Some things in life will always be a constant.
One of my last girlie lunches here, wearing a sheer floral asymmetric skirt with a sequinned shirt and minty heels. Changing the world, one sequin at a time.

Wearing:  Sequin shirt and sheer asymmetric skirt: Forever New, Minty heels: Nine West, Black Journot bag: Aldo, Chunky necklace: Juicy Couture, Stacked bracelets: Assorted.

The results of the Pavers with FTLOFAOT giveaway to be announced tomorrow. Watch this space for more.

Of Lace and Booties

Sometimes, the joy of remixing and re-inventing is so huge, that a new outfit could also not possibly match that. This digital memoir is not about hitting the malls everyday and blindly aping the trend charts or the runway. Its about re-inventing, styling and creating new looks with a few big ideas. That does not imply that I do not shop or splurge on clothes or shoes. I just have constraints, like most of you and I would like to believe that I attempt at creating new looks with pieces I've worn before, throwing in a couple of new pieces here and there. You're entitled to disagree, of course. :)
This is what I wore to the Sony Ericsson event at the Taj where they unveiled the new collection of Xperia phones and it wouldn't be fair if I didn't tell you how stunning they really are. And since Sony Ericsson Xperia and I go back a long way (they sponsored my first giveaway) , I had to attend the event.

Wearing a tube LBD with lacey peter pan blouse in a nude shade. Adding color to it are the coral booties which I just can't get enough of and my pink, silver and other assorted hues bearing clutch.
Dress: Some boutique, Australia, Lacey peter pan blouse: Zara, Coral booties: Shoe boutique, Bangalore, Clutch: Forever New, Stack of bracelets: Colaba, Bombay and Forever New, Bangalore.
Last 5 days to enter the mega giveaway! Hurry up, ladies :)  Enter the giveaway, right here.

The Sheer love affair

This outfit involves another one of my newly acquired 'happy' clothes. I'd explained this concept a while back on my blog that there are just some pieces of apparel that simply pick you up as soon as you wear them on. Now I don't know if this mid-length sheer pleated lovely is picking me up because its just so flattering or coz its so hot that a sheer skirt in nude almost makes me *sigh* with joy. The point still remains that its my happy skirt for now and I think the pictures show just that. ;)
I'm big on mid length skirts, sheer, asymmetric hemlines, jeweled flats, hints of neon and pastel this season. But then again, who isn't? :)
Finishing up the very soiree feel of the outfit with my statement earrings in fiery Orange and a thin studded belt in Hot pink.

Wearing: Ruffled blouse- Some boutique(Australia), Pleated sheer skirt- Forever 21, Jeweled flats- Shoe boutique (Bangalore), Bag and statement earrings- Aldo, Stacked bracelets- Forever New, Hot pink studded belt- Kazo.

Pavers England

I have to admit that store and collection reviews are fun. One of those awesome perks of being a fashion blogger, I reckon. It is almost empowering to be able to influence public perspectives about certain brands, breaking cliches and stereotypes and being able to present a fair picture of brands, collections and stores.
Pavers England requested me to do a general review of their collection and I have to admit that the findings were impressive. The brand portrays a very clean, no-nonsense and a sharp image via their shoes. The collections have some classic pieces and there is a shoe for almost everyone. Which brings me to the prices. The shoes are priced anywhere between 2,000 INR to about 5,000 INR. The higher end shoes could come off as a tad bit expensive, but going by their make and styling I would say they are worth the investment. What I really appreciated about the line of shoes from Pavers is that along with being smart and classy, there is an affordable shoe for everyone. One could get a nice pair of formal shoes for men for as reasonable a price as 2,000 INR.
With that, let me show you some of my favourites from both the lines.
Welcome to Pavers England :)

Tassled loafers in yummy colors!

Ok, so maybe I love loafers for men too!

Snake print pumps, love!

The range of belts

And if you thought that was all, they also have some interesting bags. Especially like the blue sequined tote.

Fun, flirty and very eclectic.

I needed one of these I-am-no-photographer-but-I-try-and-I'm-a-narcissist photographs!
That was the low down on the brand and my final verdict would be that its definitely value for money. If you're some one who likes having fun with the basic styles then Pavers England is definitely a place worth checking out. For more information: Pavers England.
But that is not all, in a few days there is going to be a mega giveaway, right here. Hint: Pavers England? :)

Met Ball 2012

I don't claim to have the dedication to get up at 6 A.M. IST and watch the Met Ball live on the internet, but a fashion ball with the fashion world's who's who, dressed to kill and you have me hooked enough to spend hours making discerning judgements about what they wore. Met Ball, for those of you who do not know *tsk tsk* is the Metropolitan Museum's fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. It is a celebration of the same and is always touted to be the biggest fashion event of west coast. This blog post was requested by Anjali, a friend and a reader. I hope you like it.
NYC saw some of the following trends emerge big in this year's Met Ball:
  • LOT of feathered detailing. Ostrich feather trails were big. Personally, not a big fan of the feathered trail.
  • Tulle. Need I even mention how much I love this evergreen red carpet trend?
  • Peplum. Its doing the rounds and how! However, none of the ladies in peplum make it to my best-dressed list :)
Moving on, my top ten best dressed for the Met Ball 2012 would have to be the following. (Fine, not like anybody cares! :P) supplemented with a few biases and reasons of course:
Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana.
There is no doubt, she is killing it with a full tulle skirt. The messy hair just adds to the aura!

Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs.
Can she ever get it wrong? I would say seldom. The leather paneled dress and the white shirt with the casually done hair are working wonders. Although I wouldn't say that this is her best!
Angela Lindvall in Prada
The geometric print dress and the working of the colors with the shoes and the clutch is definitely a stunner. Loving the print and the jacket on top.
Emily Blunt in  Calvin Klein Collection.
Killing it in a pretty coral with a beautifully cut back. Her pink blush and nude lips are just about perfect for this gown!

Eva Mendes in Prada.

If there is anyone who can pull off this fiery orange Prada gown with a fully embellished bodice it has to be Eva Mendes! The chestnut hair definitely complement the entire look.
Christina Ricci in custom-made Thakoon.
The detailing, the oversized-bow at the back with a trail and the colors are just perfection. She's definitely killing it.
Heidi Klum in Escada.
The gun metal lace peek-a-boo gown is not only classy but also works wonders on her body. Add to it the careful chic accessorising and Heidi Kum's doing wonders.
Jessica Alba in  Michael Kors.
The dramatic make up, hair and the golden dress just make her look like a goddess. I'm not even sure if anyone else could pull this dress like she does!
Jessica Biel in Prada.
The lightly embellished Prada gown, the geometric clutch and the neat neckline is so fabulous. Not over the top and yet so red carpet.
Leighton Meester in Marchesa
Here is where the bias comes in. A tulle in gold by Marchesa is exactly the sort of thing dreams are made of. I would wear a Marchesa to a red carpet event in a heartbeat as I have repeatedly mentioned. Classic minimal make up and cherry lips work for her, everytime.

Who were your favourites? What did you think? Share your thoughts! :)

Sun is Up

Bangalore isn't what it used to be. No, seriously. With this turncoat of a weather, I could safely say I've seen Bangalore turn on a new leaf every year of my college life. But a girl's gotta do what she's gotta do. So for all you pretties, braving the heat in different parts of the world, the sheer chiffon shirt has come to your rescue. Try it in pastel hues or even neon ones if you like but the classic white sheer shirt is definitely a wardrobe must-have this season. Its giving my classic cotton white shirt a run for its money, for sure.
I decided to team it up with these adorable little vintage looking shorts I picked for myself in the crazy shopping spree that Delhi was. Floral with golden vintage anchor-buttons. These shorts are comfortable, floral and just ideal for this season. Also debuting in this post is my matte lipstick in pink from Inglot. It truly is my new love and sums up a light summery matte lip color for me.

Wearing:
White sheer asymmetric chiffon shirt: Forever New, Floral shorts with vintage anchor buttons: Pret (Delhi), Oxfords: Shoe boutique (Bangalore), stack bracelets: assorted, Nude envelope clutch: Aldo, Lipstick: Inglot 415

What do you think?
XOXO
