Old wine in a new bottle

There is a charm in all old things. Like Khan Market, Delhi. While Hauz Khas Village seems to be the new favourite with the young rabble rousers, some of us still go back to Khan Market quietly, sometimes. For its narrow lanes. For its good food. For the tourists who seem to be soaking in the culture at the cult spots. For some of my favourite jewelry places. *pssst not so secret*
And for locked grilled doors like this one with the lock that has begun to rust.
Seemed like a good place to capture the essence of the outfit. Striped maxi skirt ( trend alert: stripes are the biggest trend for Summer 2013), a happy vest and a boho top knot. But if you thought this old, done boho outfit was all there was, then wait till you lay your eyes on this studded Boucle jacket. Boucle jackets ruled the trend charts this winter and this studded, English looking jacket could hardly be missed by me. Giving this old done outfit a new twist along with the stylish jacket is my necklace and this piece of designer jewelry sent over by the guys at Zariin. Zariin jewelry is sure to become an object of your fancy for two big reasons: First, no two pieces are alike and none of the pieces look been there, done that because the styling is so edgy and unique, and secondly, because set in 22k gold plating or sterling silver plating, with semi-precious stones in their raw sexy appeal, you would be surprised at how affordable such designer jewelry is. Apart from this wonderful gift sent over by them, I know I am definitely ordering in some of those jagged stone necklaces. I suggest you take a look too.
Wearing:
vest: Mango, maxi skirt in stripes: Forever New, boucle jacket with studs: Zara, bag: Coach, oxfords: Zara, necklace: Sportsgirl (Australia), Gold ring: C/O Zariin

Are you ready for the next season? And to bottle the old wine in new ways? :)

XOXO

The neon-birdy affair

As I watch Ugly Betty, I wonder (aloud if I might add, since I tweeted about it too) how the charm of this show never wears off. An absolutely personal opinion, but I can actually watch this show from any episode, any season and its like I never missed anything in between. Predictable? Definitely. The stereotypes of the fashion industry, the nerdy extra organized girl is considered 'ugly' so to speak, the hot boss et al. But with the predictability comes a sense of comfort. A sense of slipping into old patterns, which isn't always bad. Some formulas always work.
With that analogy, maybe I could explain how this tan messenger bag formula works for me everytime. Its a trend that has been around for ages. Can you really imagine leather in tan coming in only now? Its tried, tested and so classic. Add this messenger bag from Youshine to any outfit, with no exceptions.
Added two neon accents to the outfit with the lacey vest in neon green and beige wedges with neon pink detailing which are my absolute go-to shoes right now. My prediction? We're definitely not letting go of the neons this coming season going by the spring summer '13 collections.
The leather jacket is a staple that will probably go over my jeans as well as it would over a flouncy skirt and blouse outfit.
For birdy ring and many such trendy jewelry pieces and bags, hit Youshine. My newest sponsor, its undoubtedly wonderful to associate with brands that stand for chic and affordable fashion and great customer service! Are youshine- ing yet? *drum roll*

No such thing as too girly

Over time and experimenting, you figure out what exactly is your style. Sure, even today, I am open to experimenting and being adventurous with my style. Fashion blogging has definitely made me dress up outside my comfort zone very often and that definitely has been evolutionary for my style and sense of fashion. But in the end of the day, all of us have our distinct style. A pattern of dressing that we turn to most often. Sometimes even without a conscious thought. I describe my patent style as being uber feminine. Love of texture contrasts, girly silhouettes and a lot of feminine detailing. So when the sun decided to shine bright on us one Saturday morning, I decided to do my classic dressing for a breakfast date with my girlfriend. The cardigan with its vintage, old school feel and Victorian lady-like detailing is my latest obsession being a piece by the popular Australian designer Alannah Hill. Definitely a designer after my own heart considering her classic style is girly chic.

Wearing:
Mint green cardigan with lace and pearl detailing: Allanah Hill
White brocade skirt: H&M

Neon pink shoes with python contrast: Random shoe store (GK, Delhi)
Green sea horse ring: Quick Brown Fox (Australia)
Green square ring: Forever New

Cat-eye sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

What are your thoughts on the look? Fan of the girly chic? Or nay?
XOXO
