DLF Promenade Bloggers' Meet-II

Continuing from where I left. I decided to sport the season's biggest trend in my outfit for the DLF Promenade Bloggers Meet. Amidst a lot of color, i.e.
My mint green skinnies are definitely my season's favourite. Still on the lookout for at least one more pair that will steal my heart like these. And fit this well too. The outfit was colorblocked with mint green skinnies against the cobalt blue blouse. Added the black and white striped blazer to this look which happens to be one of the biggest trends of Spring-Summer, 2013. Stripes. Black and white.
Also sporting a cone necklace with multi colored metallic bands in fun shades of neon. And my ever reliable, lucky charm for styling contests, neon kitschy jhola. Simple daytime make up and some fuss free hair styling, this look is high on the trend value and comfort simultaneously. What say?

Cobalt blue blouse: Zara, Mint green skinnies: Vero Moda (ASOS), Black and white striped blazer: Vero Moda, Black flats: Tory Burch, Neon green bag: Boutique Nirvana (Pondicherry), Multi colored cone necklace in neon: C/O Youshine

DLF Promenade Bloggers' Meet-I

Styling contests have suddenly emerged as the focal point of my blogging career. No kidding. The DLF Promenade Bloggers Meet which happened a while back definitely added yet another dimension to my styling prowess (just indulging myself a little :D). The Meet was designed keeping in mind that bloggers love to style. Writing is a facet that I personally hold very important to my blog but the common denominator of all fashion blogs definitely would have to be their aptitude to style. With brands like Zara, Aldo, Forever New, Boggi, Sunglass Hut, Charles and Keith, Fab India et al being participants, styling looks was never this fun. I worked with a dancer who turned model for me for the purpose of the meet and the √©lan with which she carried my styled look, made it quite evident.
I decided to go with a bit of a gamble as I decided to mould Monochrome to make it spunkier and edgier. Wanting to give it an androgynous twist, I used a man's shirt and paired it off with a voluminous  maxi skirt by Fab India. The rest as they say worked on my styling instinct of making it a very Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction comes to Delhi, look. Certainly managed to impress the judge, ace designer Suneet Varma as I was the First Runners Up for the styling contest. More pictures to follow with what I wore in the next part.

The polka rage

Rewind to the '60s or forward to Valentino's Pop-Pois collection, polka dots have inherently made fashionistas go wild. I am definitely one of those people who gets sold on cuts, colors and polka dots! :)
On FTLOFAOT, in the past you have seen me work polka dots herehere and here. One of my favourite styles to flaunt with a pair of polka dots is a nice, bright color. In the previous posts, the red and the pops of green have more than amply made the black and white polka dots stand out. In this outfit, I decided to play on a combination of Spring-Summer 2013 trends. A denim shirt classic. Polka dots. Pastels. And pops of neon. Lets see what you think of the combination and inter play. This is my outfit from the day I was a stylist at Max Fashions GIP Store, Noida.

Wearing:
Polka dotted denim shirt: Only (ASOS), Mint green skinnies: Vero Moda (ASOS), Buddha necklace: Street find (Khan Market, Delhi), Neon pink heart ring: H&M (gifted), Nude wedges with neon pink detailing: Betts (Australia), Hot pink on the nails: Colorbar (Pink Lady 094), Spiked bracelet: C/O Globus

Playing stylist with Max

Lesson number One: Being a fashion writer and composing your own style is not the same as playing stylist at a store with real shoppers.
Now that I have the lesson out of the way, lets get to the fun part! Being a stylist is every bit as exciting as it sounds. The energy of styling people whose needs and aesthetics you need to understand in the span of a 5 minute conversation is overwhelming. Max Fashion gave me the opportunity to play stylist at their store at the Great India Place, Noida. There was a definite adrenaline rush for me considering this was my first real stint as a stylist (not counting all the times when I advice friends for free :P). The collections for Spring Summer are fresh and vibrant with a palette of beautiful summer hues and a varied use of fabrics. With interactions from styling a 10 year old to advising a lady in her mid 30s on skin care and weight loss, every conversation and engagement with the customers was a learning experience. I was quick to establish the fact that the average Indian shopper has some way to go in terms of opening their mind to the concept of 'fashionable shopping in a budget'. This is where brands like Max come in because they offer the latest trends and fashionable clothing to the masses at affordable prices. The average Indian shopper has still to exploit the market with wonderful options like Max available.

For absolutely spot-on trends and pocket friendly prices, Max Clothing is a must visit. A more detailed shoot of the outfit worn will follow next on the blog. Watch this space for more.

Monochrome with a twist

Working on a monochrome post today holds special significance. At the DLF Promenade Bloggers Meet I happened to style a Monochrome look which won by the choice of Mr. Suneet Varma. After that feat, posting this seems to be of some significance. Besides, when I do a detailed post on that look, you will have more than just one idea on how to style yourself in the classy monochrome this season. Monochrome is not merely black and white. Of course, in a simple fashion, you could just keep it to the bare minimal too. But with influencers like the Wills India Fashion Week, 2013 I have been inspired to play around with textures and silhouettes to give a twist to Monochrome.
This look is one of my favourites in a really long while. Juxtaposing the sheen of the leather with the fluidity of the sheer shirt, bringing white and black together. With the pop of cobalt blue on the feet and the red on the lips. My favourite detail has to be the collar tips in antique silver from Youshine.
What do you think? :)

A rosy affair

I have maintained for a while now that peplum is a style I personally would wear best in a formal attire. Formal and dressy, maybe. Sure, jersey tops in peplum have infiltrated the racks, but I still have not converted that faith. You would have seen my tryst with dressy peplum here.
Lucky for me, Timsy and Siddhartha of I know studio sent across this absolute stunner of a dress in peplum for me to style. The reasons for which I picked this dress are aplenty, but mostly because of the cute inverted box pleats at the front, the rosy color which according to me is as good for winter as it is for summer and the studded detailing at the waist. Its a number you could style for work as comfortably as you could for a night out in town. Utilitarian fashion isn't really a bad thing. ;)
I decided to play around with this outfit with primarily two key elements: a hat and the shoes. Keeping it minimalist with the accessories, my Zariin ring was an instant pick. The hat was definitely the quirk factor for me considering my love for hats. To add to the glam factor, I decided on my black T-bar heels. There is this absolute sense of effective elegance that a pair of T-bar conveys which in my opinion, is the right addition to this ensemble. Tell me what you think? :)

I know studio is definitely one of those brands where you see the effectiveness of minimalist and uncluttered designing. The designer duo plays around with silhouettes, keeping the styles very upbeat. If this contemporary fashion apparel is your thing, then I would suggest hopping on to their website.
